Avoiding The Nap: Mentally Guard against THE TACTICAL NAP... as the race settles or goes "out slow" one MUST... ***heighten alertness levels in anticipation of tactical actions by opponents.
Know Your Opponents Tactics: 1) "Sit and Kick" 2) "Force the Pace" 3) "Change of Speed"
Know The Track: 1) Wear the correct spikes (in your shoes) - broken in and tested "at speed"
Know The Weather: 1) Understand thw winds - understand aerodynamic shadows
Track versus Road - Frame Visual Reference Points 1) Establish detailed awareness of final 500m 2) NEVER trust the split marks or times given 3) Know your reference points for "Avoiding the Nap" 4) Know your footwear... have options broken in. - traction on wet surface - processed a workout or two at race speed on road surface |
